ROYAL ACADEMY INTRO TOURS - Wednesdays & Saturdays throughout the Royal Academy exhibition

From 5 March - 7 June 2014, short introductory tours of the Royal Academy exhibition will be held every Wednesday and Saturday at midday. Please meet at the exhibition entrance. Free with exhibition ticket.

During the international exhibition Genius and Ambition: the Royal Academy, London 1768-1918, Bendigo Art Gallery will be offering Auslan interpreted tours for visitors on Saturday 8 March and Saturday 26 April at 12pm. Both tours will provide an introduction to this significant exhibition, with the talk on the 8 March also including a focus on the life and work of artist Angelia Kauffmann, to coincide with International Women’s Day.

LIFE DRAWING - three classes

Join contemporary artist and lecturer Michael Needham in a drawing workshop over three classes. Draw from life and explore traditional drawing techniques, while honing your skills of observation and mark-making fundamental to contemporary drawing practice. All levels of experience welcome. 10:30am Thursday 6 March, 3 April, 1 May & 5 JuneParents and little ones are invited to come along for Gallery Giggles – a morning session of stories, songs and a taste of art for children aged 0 – 5 years with Education Officer Margot Feast. Mums, dads and carers do need to stay and enjoy the fun! This is a free event held on the first Thursday of every month during the school term.

To complement the exhibition Genius and Ambition: the Royal Academy of Arts, London 1768-1918 at Bendigo Art Gallery, Flinders Quartet, one of Australia's most loved chamber ensembles, will present a program of favourites of the classical realm by Haydn, Shostakovich and Dvořák.Designed to highlight the skilled artistry of Flinders Quartet, this program will immerse audiences into some of the greatest core repertoire by three masters of the string quartet. Presented by Bendigo Art Gallery and Flinders Quartet.
