| 2008 marked the sixth and final year of the Robert Jacks Drawing Prize. The Gallery will soon be announcing the details of a new prize.
The Gallery is grateful for the support of Robert Jacks for this prize. Jacks is recognised as one of Australia’s most significant and accomplished abstract artists. Born in Melbourne in 1943, Jacks trained in sculpture at Prahran TAFE and painting at RMIT. Jacks was represented in The Field in 1968, the exhibition chosen to launch the new National Gallery of Victoria in St Kilda Road. He has held more than 50 solo exhibitions throughout his career and been included in numerous group exhibitions. He lives in works in central Victoria.
