Burke and Wills
1.30pm Saturday 28 August


Merle Hall, volunteer guide at Bendigo Art Gallery, will give an introduction to the painting Burke and Wills at Mount Hopeless 1907 by George Lambert. Please meet at Gallery reception. This is a free event, all welcome.
SEPTEMBER
Twilight session
5.30 – 7pm Friday 3 September


Meet Paul Guest Prize finalists, Godwin Bradbeer and Rona Green, and discuss their drawing practice. Tickets $10, $7 members includes refreshments.

Meet the artists: Gallery Shop
5 – 6.30pm Friday 10 September


Come and enjoy an exclusive ‘members only’ event in the Gallery Shop. Meet ceramicist Sue James and jeweller Susan Frisch and learn about their work. Receive a special discount not usually available on these items.

Big Draw Bendigo
11am – 4pm Saturday 11 September


Think you can’t draw? Well think again! Coinciding with the Paul Guest Prize the Gallery invites you to come and draw. To get you warmed up, start with your fingerprint and add some lines. Then join some other free workshops including Body and Bones, and Musical Draw. For adults work on an easel in the Sculpture Annex and draw Eve and her friends. Artist run workshops will also be on offer for both children and adults (contact the Gallery for more details).

Paul Guest QC will discuss his passion for collecting Australian art. This is a free event.

Holiday Fun at Bendigo Art Gallery
Morning and afternoon sessions 21 – 30 September


Imagine, design and create at our special holiday workshops. Use wire, metallic papers, pastels, pens and more to make your own unique art or craft piece Workshops for children 4 to 7 and 8 to 14 years. For all enquiries and bookings please contact the Gallery. Cost $7–10.

OCTOBER
A pleasant afternoon: Seniors' Festival event
2 – 3.30pm Wednesday 6 October

Spend a pleasant afternoon at the Gallery with a musical performance by Bendigo Senior Secondary College students followed by a delightful afternoon tea. Cost: $2 seniors, $3 non-seniors, bookings essential.


Fairy Fun Day
11am – 1pm Sunday 17 October


Grab your wings and a wand and fly on into the Gallery. View our wonderful Fairy exhibition then enjoy some fairy fun, including storytelling, face painting and fairy arts. At the café enjoy some tasty fairy food. Event especially for fairies and elves 7 and under. Entry by gold coin.

Checkmate! Artists talk chess

Want to learn more about Art and Chess? Ever wondered where artists’ inspiration comes from? Join us for insightful talks by eight of Australia’s leading contemporary artists from the Your Move exhibition. Presented in two parts, the program features Lionel Bawden (NSW), Sebastian Di Mauro (Qld), Michael Doolan (Vic), Robert Jacks (Vic), Danie Mellor (ACT), Kate Rohde (Vic), Caroline Rothwell (NSW), Ken Yonetani (NSW). All talks are FREE!
